Because Sometimes You Have To Cleanse Yourself Before Sharing Sexual Energy
Something strange has been happening inside of me. Don’t get me wrong, it’s good but strange because I can’t remember when I felt this mentally clear and focused. Yogis call what I’m going through “Brahmacharya.” It’s when you preserve your energy through practicing celibacy (not having sex) to strengthen your spiritual vitality.
I don’t know how long I can go, but it’s going on seven months since I last slept with someone. The other day, when I confessed this to my friend, she gasped, “Oh my god! Really?” As if it were a bad thing. I chuckled, finding it kinda funny.
“I actually feel good,” I smiled. My response shocked her because so many people can’t live without sex. Trust me, I love being physically and emotionally intimate with someone, and I’m very aware of all the benefits of human touch and heartfelt connection. But, and there is a big “but,” there are also benefits in cleansing your energy by fasting from sex.
